Westfield – 2.0L XE Turbo

December 2019
Aris has been running his 2.0L XE turbo engine that he has built himself for many years, which was originally running and older MBE967 that he had had from new, which Steve had originally mapped a little 1.4L 16v turbo probably around 20 years ago now. He had upgraded a couple of years ago to a MBE9A4 ECU, Steve had built him a base map to get him up and running, but for various reasons, we had never found time to be able to get together to map it. Aris has made some adjustments himself and had run at various boost levels, even as far as 500bhp had been produced, but Aris had said it was almost impossible to drive at this level. We finally managed to find time just before Christmas, Aris had found a good local rolling road in Crete with a skilled operator and knock protection equipment. It was decided upon that 325bhp was a good level that was usable in a Westfield and few hours were spent fine tuning the ignition mixture and boost in order to produce this level of performance.

A few days later Aris was able to test the vehicle and this is the message he sent to us:
‘Hi Steve, I know ur closed but wanted to share. I tested the car today and was brilliant and spotless!! Thank u so much! Enjoy the holidays and lets have a great 2020. All the best, will talk after new years! Thanks, Aris’

Aris emailed us in June 2015 with some up to date pictures and a new dyno graph after he remapped his engine with Steve’s email & telephone assistance.

Aris commented on our Facebook post, June 2015:

“Now its 500 at 1.7bar so this Gt2876 its done.395 was with the 63lb injectors and the withe 83lb ones raised the boost.Actually took it higher that it will suposse to produce thanks to  Sb Developments and Spartalis Bros.Thank u all !!!”

After several years of playing with the Tigra, Aris decided he would like to play with something lighter & faster so bought a Westfield chassis & built a 2.0L 16v XE engine into a turbo version. We helped him out with some of the mechanical components & all of the electronics. He emailed us to say that ‘the westy has with the gt2876, at 0.45 bar 270hp, and at not even 1.1bar, 395hp.’
