Honda K20/K24 High Specification Taper Throttle Body Kit – Curved manifold for FWD Installations

Our in house Development of the Honda K20 Engine stemmed from customer requests for a proven, high performing engine package with support from a UK supplier – we therefore decided to include the Honda range of engines to the core engines which we at SBD Motorsport provide support for – we therefore set about creating a host of Motorsport dedicated and fully optimised products.

Our 2025 customer release Honda ITB kit is actually our 2nd iteration, we have evolved the design from information gathered during the original design phase, adding features whilst ensuring drivability and reliability remains paramount.

Proven on our “works” Civic EG Race Car – 305bhp 2.0L (K20).

We provide the customer with two injector position options, if using just one set (4 injectors) we opt for the in-body position as this provides a performance gain compared to only using the OE location – we carry this concept over from our highly popular Vauxhall XE and Ford Duratec Taper Throttle Kits. For customers looking for the last few %, the manifold can be machined for a lower set of injectors which essentially are in the OE position (OE fuel rail will NOT fit) – in some applications, this can improve low/mid range performance but will be dependent on engine spec inc cam spec.

Our kit can be ordered with 3 options for actuation:

  1. Simple throttle pull from underneath
  2. Quadrant operation, with single or twin cable
  3. DBW operation, using the latest High Torque Jenvey ETA4 unit

As with all SBD products, we aim to fully optimise every kit and this is no exception, using a bespoke set of tooling for not only the manifolds, but also the unique throttle bodies we are able to reduce the mass of the system compared to our rivals whilst retaining strength due to support ribs and sections within the design.

Our primary system size uses a 56mm entry at the throttle body opening, with a 54mm butterfly while maintaining a natural taper through the inlet tract down to the valve area.

We do offer other sizes for specialised applications, which can be discussed on an individual basis.

The injectors are mounted underneath the throttle body pointing at an upwards direction at the correct angle so that upon butterfly opening high gas speed is achieved allowing very fast throttle response. Because the injector is mounted much higher up the inlet track, this allows improved air/fuel mix, which we have found in many tests to give identical improvements to that seen with an 8-injector set up but also allows for reduced complexity. However there is now an option to add another set of injectors close to the cylinder head for high performance versions of the K20/K24.

Great care has also been taken to ensure that the package is very neat and compact as possible, which means we can use a flat air filter back plate without the need for any complex stepped back plates.

The kit includes inlet manifold, throttle bodies, air horns, fuel rail and throttle cable bracket.
