Due to the wide range of installations that the Duratec is being used in, we have produced a range of alternator kits to cover engines which use either mechanical water pumps or electric water pumps. Duratec 95amp Alternator Kit using Standard Trigger Wheel & Water Pump
This kit is designed for use with as many of the standard components fitted to Duratec engine as possible, it consists of our ultra small alternator ALT-WOSP-095-01 weighing 4.2kg & bracketry to suit including our own design of simple tensioner. Designed to be mounted on the exhaust side. Recommended for road use.
Our WOSP 95amp alternator has been especially built to our specifications with mounting designed to suit our GM XE and Ford Duratec. It comes fitted with a 4-vee pulley.
All our alternators are self-exciting and this keeps them simple to install and reduces the possibilities of faults with broken wires, since when they detect rotation, they will then switch on and off based on the battery voltage, so they only need the positive terminal that would be fitted to an ordinary alternator, but no other wires are used. It only requires a power lead to the battery.
Advantages of self-exciting alternator:
1. With no extra wires required it simplifies your wiring and less chance of issues relating to broken wires
2. The regulator produces a higher voltage output, which is ideal for use with Lithium and lead acid batteries.
3. If you wish to run an ignition light, you would need to add the Low Voltage Indicator, Part No. ALT-WOSP-LVS-01
NOTE: Due to the diameter of the standard crank pulley/trigger wheel, if the engine is to be revved over 7250rpm, this will overspeed the water pump & alternator so we recommend that you use ALT-DURA-02K-95A.
The trigger wheel & water pump pulley are NOT included in the kit.
